awesome remix

what software do you use to piece everything together? im using fl studios 10 and massive but im starting to venture into ableton live 8, any suggestions?

CowardlyLion responds:

Right now I'm using Logic Pro with a lot of Native Instruments VST's. So you're on the right track, indefinitely. That's smart of you to move out of FL Studio, I've never used it but from all the professional producers I know (I know a few big ones) they've told me that they use FL Studio to create their base sounds and export them into Ableton to put the finishing touches on them. Albeton is a very powerful program, so I'd definitely suggest moving into it. Just give it time and you'll get a hang of it.

your really awesome

i was wondering how you became so good at dubstep, i make it to but its nowhere near some of the tracks you make.

CowardlyLion responds:

Thank you very much! I've gotten to where I am today just by practice, and more practice. Put aside any time that you can to make music, if you can. Look up all the instructional videos/sites that you can, and make sure you've got a decent arsenal of VSTs! I'd suggest looking into what Native Instruments has to offer.

P.S.

Most songs I make usually start off not sounding like what I want to hear, but I just keep at it and try to achieve the tune that's playing in my mind (don't drop a song just because you don't like how your rough draft is sounding).

sounds cool

but thats ringer just penetrates my ears a left and right, maybe try lowering that down.

why would you post a test?

come on really

MADNESSDAY2030 responds:

Where should i post it then?

This is awesome and all

But why is it under dubstep?

alertG responds:

Cause thats the only good music nowadays obviously..........
i'll put it in industrial until someone yells at me D:

as being your first newgrounds song..

Sounds- Fl Studio default drums are drums that you should stay away from, they sound cheap and generic, which of course makes your music sound quality and production value go way down. so try to get good sounds off the internet, look up stuff like drum samples. I dont know if you are skilled in the music department or not but digital music isnt the hardest to make, but like all things it does take time, practice and perfection. If you want to get any help simply contact me id be more than happy to help if you need any,- peace out

Pretty good melody

My only advice would be to work on your timing with the singing, its not bad and maybe cut down on the autotune a little bit and try a vocador instead, but thats just me, keep it up man, good stuff

IanSalles responds:

Thanks man. I just started incorporating vocals into my electronic stuff. When I go to do a final version, I'll definitely take your suggestions into consideration. I'm also still trying to get over the hesitation of recording vocals, haha.

drums my friend

the melody itself is not bad, but the mastering im sorry to say is not the best. The drum samples are generic and almost sound like fl studios. everything is were it should be, just try to make sure everything sounds good and original.(because fl studios drums are way overused, i used to over use them to) But that can be overcome with effects and such.

DuttonsaysHi responds:

The drums? are you referring to the kick and snare or the hats and vocal stabs? Because the kick and snare where custom and you're really only going to hear the same 'kick, snare, kick , snare, kick snare etc.' beat progression.
The hats and vocal stabs are just to add some variation to the kick and snare so that the beat doesn't feel empty.
I mean this is house, a very predictable genre it's hard to have some 'orginality' when it comes to the beat itself, it's better to vocus on the bass, synth and pads,

Also I use reason 5, not fruity loops... so all the drum samples you're hearing are reasons..

Awesome

No words need be spoken beyond that

9thousand9 responds:

Thanks man, glad you like it!
